About Us
Apollo, a rescued Siberian Husky, is the namesake and inspiration for Husky Dog Productions, a Boerum Hill, Brooklyn-based theatre and film production company. A Husky plowing through the snow pulling its load is an awe-inspiring sight because it is what the Husky was born to do. In the same way, we believe that an artist given the opportunity to show an audience what he or she was born to do is just as awe-inspiring. Husky Dog Productions (“HDP”) seeks to provide artists committed to their craft with an opportunity to inspire their community to question, to feel and to think.
Husky Dog Productions was founded by Donald P. Blydenburgh, Esq., Annie Keating, Jeff Todesco and Eileen Trilli in April, 2008 with the production of Sean Michael Rice's Entwine (Producer's Award, 2008 MITF; Eileen Trilli, director), produced for the 2008 Midtown International Theater Festival. During rehearsals for Entwine , Apollo, Annie and Jeff truly bonded after a twist on a typical rehearsal occurred. As Eileen recalls,
“We were rehearsing Entwine in my kitchen, and Apollo was howling and scratching at the door to get involved in the action. So we let him in and created an acting exercise where the actors continued to pursue their objectives while dealing with Apollo in the space. It was an amazing and hilarious night of work for both the actors and Apollo.”
Apollo's other owner, Don Blydenburgh, Executive Producer, brings his legal acumen, as well as his creativity, to the production aspect of HDP, managing everything from contracts to sound, lighting and multi-media design.
Annie Keating, Artistic Director and Jeff Todesco, Artistic Contributor , are both ensemble members and the stars of Entwine , and provide inspired artistic direction for HDP.
Eileen Trilli, contributes her talent as the company's Director, Artistic Producer and Business Manager .
The company members of Husky Dog Productions demand that only the best in collaborative artistic expression is produced. We have made it a top company priority to give back to the community. In fact, though not even a year old, HDP has contributed to and participated in the 2008 NYC ING Marathon and 2008 MS Bike Tour, and founded the Wyckoff Greenstreet Partnership, an organization that seeks to enrich the sidewalk environment of the Boerum Hill Community.
